Adam Coats
Adam Coats is a graduate research assistant in the Department of Radiology under the mentorship of Dr. Eric Hoffman. He graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Mount Mercy University in 2015. He worked as a research assistant in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation where he performed assays on cytokines until he entered the University of Iowa in 2016 to pursue his Doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering.
Adam Coats makes use of computed tomography (CT) and reconstruction software to produce 3D structures and skeletons of acinus and airways within the lungs. These techniques are used to examine lung features without damaging the tissue. Presently, Adam is concentrating his research on using high resolution CT to study the peripheral architecture of the lung.
